*shrug*
title is from the divination rhyme counting crows, most recently (well, within the past 15 years) recited in the counting crows song 'a murder of one'.
fwiw, a 'murder' is a group of crows (like a pack of dogs, a herd of cow, etc). you can read more about a murder of one here.
when you're counting crows, so goes the rhyme, 'one for sorrow'. i'm betting that is going to be a self-fulfilling prophecy with this one ;-) i am so expecting dmnc for not being 'above' enough, but all the same, i figure this is worth the shoehorn...
anyways, the edits were simple: rotated 90ccw, sized to 200, slightly sharpened, adjusted levels, adjusted curves, adjusted hue/sat, adjusted curves again, sized to 640px, saved for web. |

I love the ruggedness of the bird in this. It just looks so perfectly... irregular I suppose.
I also have a bit of a cloud fetish.
I really like this one a lot. |

I liked this shot a lot and I like your explanation just as much.
This could also be called 'a crow left of the murder' Credit Incubus with that one ;) |

where did you find such a raggedy bird? I gave this an 8, which is as high as I went in this challenge. |

Agree with Tammer - the tattered look of the bird is what appealed to me. I gave it a 7.
Coincidentally, I just saw "A Murder of Crows" (1999 DVD) this past weekend where the title was explained in the movie's dialog.
Very nice work, Skip. "shrug" is about all you can do. ...other than scratch your head. :D |

For me, it's the "ratty" quality of the feathers that sets this above the usual DPC bird in the sky shot. That and the tilted sky composition. Well done. Hope this makes the front page! |

two for joy, three for girls and four for boys... Great song. Really ragged bird which suits the title well. |

Reminds me of images of the mythical phoenix. Raggedy feathers are kind of poignant. |
