This is a life size diarama at the Boeing Museum of Flight in Seattle in the Personal Courage Wing World War 1 Gallery. The "men" in the photo are actually life size photographic cutouts. My camera was hand held with only display lighting used

Now it makes sense, but you can understand why so many of us thought it was due to problematic editing.

I'm afraid your processing to make the people stand out gives it a fake look. The edges are harsh and it looks like they were 'shopped in, rather than being part of the scene.
