Shot during a recent trip to Times Square, New York. It was late -- probably close to midnight. A few things about this.

1. The cop is striking quite a pose, but this is completely candid. Shot from the hip, I had to pretend to be pointing something out to my son while I aimed and fired at a 90 degree angle.

2. Handheld at 1/13 (!). Let's hear it for Olympus' in-body image stabilization.

3. I don't care for the grainy treatment of this. I was trying to emulate high-speed film, but we got home late on Sunday, and I didn't have much time to play with it. No matter -- only film will look like film, and I only attempted this in the spirit of the challenge. Here's a clean edit:

Processing: In RAW, remove noise filter, convert to yellow-filter monochrome. In PSP X2, clarify (5), USM (3/100/0), add noise, add vignette with blend mode burn.

This is way cool. I can't believe you captured this kind of arrangement - awesome! How can you "see" this scene when shooting from the hip? This is quite a skill you've got going here :D

btw - I want to Topaz this lol (it's such an addiction!)

should have known this was yours! quite underrated imo but what can you do...oh and i do think it looks quite realistic like high speed film with the low contrast and tones.

A nice strong showing for a a genre that tend to get slammed. I gave it a 6. Your notes on how you shot it were an interesting read.
