This is a Classic Jaguar which will cause a stir with the Voters as they will say its not an Old Car, But does a Car have to be an Old Rust Bucket to Qualify as being Old.
This car has been Kept in prestine Condition as it is my friends Car He Hires for Weddings.
I expect an American Mid West Car stranded in the Desert to win this Challenge.

Commenting here because of the Forum post.........

The Jag has a distinct design that managed to remain relatively modern looking. it is a credit to Jag desingers that they manage to design cars that do not date, and look old, a week after you drive them out of the showroom. having said that, it does have the more modern elements of current jag's and as a result, does not give the 'Old Car' feel that the majority of voters would have been after.........

I am not a fan of the background for this. The car is grey, and yet you have photographed it with a corregated background, which is both grey and in relative focus. The upper part of the car does not jump out from this area, and the roof almost blends into the background. Even the ground, being brickwork, has patterns that detract from the main subject......

The angle you photographed on is a normal, almost boring angle. It is the angle i expect to see in an add selling the car. Photograph at 45 degrees to show the front and undented side panel. As a result, it lacks an artistic flair to the photo that would have helped it. The crop also doesn't help, as it is very similar to what a caryard would use, show the car as big as you can...........

Even the lighting is not great, a bit uneven. Having the shaddow across the front windscreen detracts from the photo. highlights in areas......I find it hard to light a car really well, but when someone does, you can really tell.........

I didn't vote in teh challenge.....I can understand why people thought it was new (or relatively). Hope the comment helps put my opinion across and is of some help

This comment is in response to your forum post. I was one of the 9 people who gave you an 8. This really doesn't look like an 'old' car, but judging by your title (Pristine) I concluded that it was an older car in beautiful condition. However, I can still see why you received so many low scores, this car just doesn't appear old. Hope this helps some.

Certain manufacturers do a great job of maintaining their "look" for decades, making it difficult to tell the age of one of their cars. Jaguar is one of these. Someone unfamiliar with the marque could see a model from the 60's and think it was a current model. This was a very nice picture. "Old" is subjective - to a child, anyone over 15 is old. To a senior citizen, only things that they encountered in childhood or before are old.
You've got to admit (and you do through your title) that this looks like a brand new car. Take the low scores as a compliment that you accurately captured the car and its condition.

Joe, I saw your comments on the forum and thought I would comment. The challenge topic was Old Cars, this car, although a classic, is really not old. It doesn't matter which way you try to spin it, the challenge was old cars not classic cars. If it was classic cars, you would have scored much higher. It's a bit like putting a shot of a teenager into a baby challenge.

This is one of those cases where the challenge topic was pretty specific and there was not much room for misinterpretation. I am not surprised at all at the lowish score, in fact, the only reason I think it's not lower is because the image itself is decent from a technical point of view.

Ouch, they really dinged you with the 1's and 2's. I really don't know/keep up with European cars let alone Jaguars so I didn't know if it was an "old"/older Jag or not. It seems harsh to give a 1 or 2 though. I'm learning this is a tough crowd on DPC.

IMHO, car shots can be tough. The composition in this shot is pretty good, maybe just a bit tight, but the angle is good. The lighting and focus is fine. I think this shot of this car would have been stronger if a different (darker?) back drop was used as oppose to the silver metal curtain wall back drop with a lot of horizontal lines that distract/compete with the lines of the car. As is, the top half and the back half of the Jag kind of gets lost. Good luck on the voting.
