Ah - an image that merits time spent on it :- )
At first glance very simple - maybe almost too simple and heck maybe a bit dark . . but as your eyes adjust to the light and you let yourself slow down past the glitzy, punchy, demanding images that are so often thrown at us what slowly emerges is a very pleasing shot.
The square composition is perfect for this - as is the placement of your niece sitting nicely in the 'rule of thirds', but additionaly there is a diagonal going on with a shaft of light entering top left and leaving bottom right, catching initially her face, but just leaving wonderful delicate highlights on her tumbling hair. Giving a suggestion, not of sensible straight combed hair, but young tumbling playful hair, almost out of sight but in it's youthful exuberance creeping it's way into our visual field. A feeling that the shot you have taken is almost a 'capture' of a young person who is momentarily stationary - rather than an older person that will sit quietly for hours . .
Very nice. |
