Woulda looked great in BW. Don't make the mistake of getting "tint-happy".

who cares if it's a little gross, this is a great macro shot, nine for you.

I don't like the monochromatic look to this shot. I would prefer to see the subject a bit more natural. Well taken though and a great idea - Inspzil

Sand flea? Good shot. The color ruins it. It fades into the background too much. Would have been a great photo otherwise. 4 is the best I can give as is. Sorry. PTL

Nice and sharp on the edges of the shell but face is too soft.

challenge -- met
technical -- when the photo first displayed i went 'ugh' at the greenish color cast but now that i've looked at the photo some more i find that it actually works. the hind legs kind of melt together because there's no contrast in color and they are blurry. the rest of your focus is good.
composition -- fine, maybe upper antenna is a tad too close to the top of the frame.

Cool!!

could use white balance, might even be good as grayscale

I'm thinking color may work better here. (Unless it was just too gross!) Good detail.

Well isn't he creepy! Is he one of those pill bugs? Your focus is very nice. The detail you show us here is just great. I love the little shell like plating around the edge. Thanks for doing this shot from his underside, I don't think the other side would be this interesting. The lighting is nice. I wasn't for sure about the colored tint, but as I think about it, black and white wouldn't look as nice, neither would sepia. I think being a bug, the greenish tint works nicely. Great shot. Good luck in the challenge. ~Hbunch7187~
