Colorado columbine, Duotone of black and Pantone 2645 lavender

Wow, a top ten. I'm psyched! There were so many great shots and photographers in here I can't believe it did so well. Thanks for all the great comments, votes, favorites and my first ever wishlist! Not a super original subject I know, but I was shooting some Columbines and tried a B/W conversion and really liked the tones. The color is so often emphasised with these, the tones alone were really appealing.
I reshot one for the contest, converted to greyscale and did the duotone conversion, great learning experience as I've never done it before. Thanks again everyone!

I came back to this several times during the challenge. Lovely and the delicate texture and how it blurred into the background was gorgeous indeed. And there is something about a hint of lavender in a duotone. Nice finish. Congrats.

Congrats on a top ten finish! And my favorite Colorado flower, too! Not sure we can still be friends if you keep getting top tens and I keep getting browns--lol! Great job here. :-)

Beautiful composition, toning and the bokeh is gorgeous too and the flower rises from it sharp and ready to soak up attention

This is lovely...nearly something sci-fi about it. The way the bloom shoots forth from the nebulous background...and the steely purplish tones, also very pleasing.

Daity as can be. Excellent texture, and superb DOF to make this beauty essentially rise from the mist. Color toning suits very well.

If you know me, you'll know I'm not that big on flowers, but this just about jumped out of the screen!! Wonderful detail and DoF. : )

Methinks you'll get a few "hate the border" comments...I'm personally a fan of borders, but I think in this case a simple white one or none at all would have served the photo better. However, because I'm not into lowering scores because of a silly border, I'm still gonna give out a 9 for this. Really well done.
