Our local natural history museum has a wonderful butterfly exhibit on for the summer. This fellow is handsome in color, but I really like the way he came out in b&w. I think he could use a tad more contrast, but he's so well camouflaged on that sandstone rock, that in the original shot there isn't much natural contrast to work with.

No more contrast needed at all - this is magical! The textures are rich yet not too overpowering and the tones in B&W are just right in my opinion. Very very nice!

Very interestimng use of black and white for a subject that we would associate with bright colours.
The facinating thing here is that our brains still tell us the butterfly is brightly coloured, I'm sure there
is a term for this phenomena.
