Another rural scene taken while driving by. Processed much like the windmill I posted a few days back, using Color Efex Pro tonal contrast, pro contrast, and bi-colored filter.
Used this in overlay mode:

OMG, Judy, I love your verse, reminds me of the lyrics to an Eagles' song or something :-) The line about the girl writing to her mother "wishing you weren't here" -- BRILLIANT!

This combines to create an awesome sense of remoteness, isolation and almost unsurviveable loneliness.

she drove across the desert
her suitcase barely packed
her heart was bright with promise
a serious plan she lacked

she made it half past Texas
and knew she'd met her home
for she had found her cowboy
her heart no more would roam

she sent her mom a postcard
with "wishing you weren't here"
she signed it with a heart
and sealed it with a tear

the dry and dusty landscape
would be her new found treasure
for happiness is anywhere
there's love too deep to measure

Have to say that I think this works wonderfully well. Love the postcard overlay, it's excellent.
