In the evening you can see the blinking red lights atop the Washington Monument, which I assume are there to keep planes from hitting it in the fog. They're the monument's creepy red eyes, as far as I'm concerned. ;)

Edited to add:
Ronald Reagan National Airport is really close by, but I don't actually think most flight patterns would put planes flying over the city (and thus the monument) on approach or take-off. Helicopters, on the other hand, fly low around there ALL the time.

Minimal processing on this one. TA Spicy, dupe layer with TA Dramatic (Lighten, 45%), crop.

Looks like some kind of scary creature with two red eyes and two nostrils :-) I love how it is encircled and almost overwhelmed by all of the trees. Excellent work!

I like the crispness of the trees as well as the intensity of the blue sky. Well done!

Your 'minimal processing' did wonders for this otherwise dull photo. The crop was a big improvement, but what really brings it to life is the crisp light shining through the trees. I like it a lot.

Nice bluish night tones here. Do planes actually fly low enough to hit the monument? I would think that might freak some people out if they came so close.
