 Playing around a little today. First I made a duplicate layer and rotated it 90 degrees CCW, set in Overlay mode at 100%. Bottom layer: TA Color Blast, then TC Curly Smooth (with the settings tweaked). Top layer: TA Portrait Smooth.

Cool. I like the effect. I knew something was "wrong" (meaning 'off' or 'unnatural') with the orientation, but couldn't figure out what it was until I read your explanation. It's interesting to hear and see how you are using TC. So far I have gotten very unnatural results with it, but this looks very much like natural trees. I'll keep trying.
