a whisper
shhhhh
the bells are starting to clang
against the soft voice
of the afternoon heat

whimpering with the window
the hot wind barely blowing
in tandem with the wrinkle
of the curtains

shhhhh
you can hear their sad song
as it glides
in rhythm with the cicadas
hidden in the tall weeds

summertime
and the bells
are ringing
