Sorry that it took me such a long time to get over here for a comment on your shot, I apologize.

For the darkness challenge you would figure that this would fit a monolith in a cemetary around dusk, as I would agree to a point. The idea you had was great for the challenge but it the exposure being a bit bright doesnt really jump out and say dark to me.

The different greys in the photo along with the sharp detail amongst the inscription and in the other writing really gives a great deal of interest I keep on wanting to try to read it. However there is a slight oversaturation or oversharpen that gives off a slight haloing around the monument.

I think if it were a bit darker and the halo wasnt there it may have been alot better for you.

Like the idea behind this shot. IMO it needs to be a little darker to add a bit more of an eerie feel to the setting. Nice capture all the same.

There is a very effective monotone feel to this even though it's not a monotone image. Very dramatic in feel and dark and forebidding from an emotional standpoint - a very good artistic success. From a technical standpoint, it's a little oversharpened, but that can be viewed two ways - as a positive halo effect or a negative one. Given the rich and variable detail, the positive approach is much more valid. Well done.
