RAW conversion using CS4. Applied Topaz Adjust Crisp followed by b/w conversion using hue/sat and a boost in contrast. This is a technique that melethia describes in a recent post - very cool technique

Nice use of the technique! I do think my favorite use of the software is to use it prior to conversion to B&W. Really brings out midtones and details well, which translates nicely into B&W. The downside is the creation of a wee bit of haloing - haven't figured how to deal with that yet. Nice work on this one - glad you found the tips helpful!

Well done. In addition to the crisp for the statue and stone work, try a layer with dramatic preset for the sky. The statue is excellent, love the detail. The building in the background is fantastic and like the detail and tone of the cabled structure.

What a great job with the editing. I love how you pulled out the details in the sky so now the focus is back on the statue. I love how that one building really pops now because of the detail and contrasts.

Great work. I'm always looking for new and innovative ways to do BW conversions, so I might have to check this out.

Glad you are joining us! This is a great start... Melethia's B/W TA conversion process really adds punch. Hope you continue to post more Topaz shots.

I'm glad you posted this bassbone. It's nice and crisp. Still it (on my monitor) gets a bit of the halo effect that sometimes happens to Topaz images. When it happens to me, if I back off on some of the sliders, especially the "boost" ones, it sometimes goes away...just a thought.
