This was my first attempt at taking pictures of the moon. I'm almost embarrased about how many pictures I took that night before I finally found the right combination... and I'm not sure if I could recreate the settings. I was very pleased with the results, however.

Well, actually I did have a tripod. I don't have any idea how my settings ended up like they did. I did what I thought was right (low iso, long shutter) but ended up with two moons, or a huge blur. Next time we get a full moon & a clear sky, I'll try again.

For a full moon like this you will avoid the noise by lowering the ISO to 100. I assume your reason for the 400 was that you were trying to do it handheld, if so, your result is striking!!
