Built in 1895 as the 'Guaranty' Building by architect Louis H. Sullivan, called the father of modern architecture. This is an early all-steel frame structure with fine terra cotta veneer.

I sharpened this image and enhanced the contrast in PS7, then blackened the sky (which was a drab gray - not very pretty...)

Crisp! Love the detail in the building. Cropping gives an interesting geometry to the picture. Only sorry I can't see this blown up to wall size....

I like this perspective and did something similar (but of much lower quality) in the centred challenge. I guess you burnt out the sky...i think it works well here..focussing the eye on the detail of the building. well done

This is a very photogenic building that you have captured pretty well. However, i felt the viewpoint isn't really unusual enough (a few steps closer might have conveyed a more vertigonous impression) and there is something terribly strange about the sky. i wonder why you chose to do the sky like this? it's a bit off-putting and kind of detracts from the quality of the shot of the building. the colours of the building look like they've been manipulated, but to really good effect, and the symmetry is for want of a better word, glorious. if only something could be done to make the sky a little more natural looking. 6.

Beautifully composed and edited. A real treat. My one quibble is that the sky has obviously been darkened and this leaves an unatural look to the boundary between sky and building as if you've just airbrushed the whole sky black. Not having sight of the original it's difficult to judge. Anyway - good work 9.

Great use of wide angle to hold DoF all the way. Nice colors - black sky works well for this.

This is beautiful! I love the perspective and the blacked out background. I'm hoping there's something in your comment on how you did it when the challenge closes.
