Well done on your first entry Bud! se some one else gave ya ten too! I think I scored 4.97 on my first entry. Now you can go for a Ribbon,I'll race ya. I can't seem to get past a fifth place...see ya in a week!
Woulda, coulda, shoulda - the rich detail and excellant capture of the mallard is lost in the white and busy background. Not quite to the same level of expertise as some of the other avian images in this challenge. The distance involved leads to lack of perspective which does not help the image at all. A good effort that might have been improved with a little more patience waiting for a different angle and lighting.
Ooh, tough exposure. The Mallard and his motion are well-captured and I like the light on him. He is disappearing into the background, though, which is good for him in the real world of predators but not so great photographically. Maybe shooting with less DOF would have blurred the background sufficiently for him to stand out better?
