Really grainy and soft. Looks like an extreme crop. Photographing a bird in flight can be hard, as you have found!

Reaching too far with the lens on this one :) I hate that when I take a zoomed pic and think it's good then see the purple and cyan highlights all over it when I look at it on the computer (and I've found dark birds to be the worst for that!). You must be a pretty steady hand tho to get the level of focus that you have. Keep shootin'

Unfortunately, the focus is off and there is alot of noise in this shot. But it was a good attempt. I'd try it again at a lower ISO.

Back to bump this up from the initial harsh 2 that I gave it on first viewing. Catching these birds in flight is incredibly difficult, and that you have succeeded at all is good. That said, I suspect you would have been better not to crop in so tight, and to have the bird smaller in the frame - that would have had two benefits, it would appear sharper and so attention wouldn't be drawn to the focus, and it would give a bit more context and appear more 'natural'.

They seem to be difficult to capture for me anyways..
Nice DOF & crop well presented in the frame..
Can see this as a good shot if it were in focus..

Not quite to the same level of expertise as some of the other avian images in this challenge, the image is flawed due to a difficult lighting situation leading to rather flat and dull coloring and soft focus. The blank sky also enhances this problem. A good effort that might have been improved with a little more patience waiting for a different angle and lighting.

Tough little bird to capture. This shot came out a little soft and washed out, though I can see some feather detail and a catchlight in the eye. If this was cropped I'd try a much wider crop so the bird took up less space in the image.

I love the reflection in its eye. The rest is too blurry to my liking.
