On the evening of November 13, 2009, the Tea Fire swept through the foothills above Santa Barbara, California. The acreage burned was relatively small, but over 200 homes were lost and over 5,000 people were were under mandatory evacuation orders. I live "downtown" and always thought that I was pretty well out of any danger from forest fires, but the fall-back evacuation line was four blocks from my home -- a sobering thought.

This shot is taken from West Mountain Drive. After the fire, this was scorched earth. The fire jumped over this house and it was spared.

Unbelievable how such a force can be so selective. I bet the owners didn't expect to find their home still standing. Nice story and beautiful sky.

Wow, scary! That sky is the most brilliant blue though, and I bet those people that own that house are really appreciating it.
