I took a drive randomly into the city and ended up visiting a friend of mine on West Houston Street in Manhattan. He works at a custom tee shirt stand right on the street and figured it would be a good spot to take some photos. I walked to the corner of Thompson and saw this poor old man standing there.

I took this shot from a good distance away. I wanted to keep it a candid moment. I was lucky to also get the family in the background.

The intentions of this photo entry are to express the true diversity of the characteristics NYC has to provide, and nothing else!

I hope you can see the true beauty in this picture as I do.... enjoy!

On photoshop I played with the brightness, contrast, hues, saturation and sharpness. Everything else is as is.

One of the few entries where the photographer knows what a candid photograph is. 8

The ability to recognise a candid moment is the most important skill a photographer can develop and the author has done a wonderful job of recognizing that moment and capturing it in a simple and effective composition. While not supremely artistic, is does convey meaning which is a plus - not every candid moment can be viewed as "artistic". A minor technical fault in that the image could be a little sharper, it suits the overall emotional impact well and thus is very adequate. A top ten contender and a potential ribbon contender. Well done.

Great shot, just a little cropping on the right side to eliminate some clutter. An 8.

Very nice. Great moment captured. It's busy, but it works because the colors repeat throughout the photo.
