Converted from RAW via UFRaw, edited with Gimp. Cropped, resized, adjusted levels, sharpened, slight curves adjustment.

I know this would be a stretch for some for 'candid', and I can totally understand, but I think it's a pretty random, tender moment from creatures that really aren't THAT different from us humans.

A risky entry - as an animal is unaware of the concept of photography does the idea of a "candid" moment exist to them? IMO this is a bit of a stretch of the imagination - and typically DPC doesn't respond well to stretching! A sweet moment though, I would suggest composing the whole of the primate's hand into the shot next time.

While obviously a "candid" moment, images of this type are hard to review if only because it's unclear where it meets the challenge subject criteria or not. In this case, it's better to error on the side of caution. A very expressive pair, these terrific apes are shown to be almost human in their demeanor. Originally scored a 7, this is rerated to an 8. A worthy entry into the challenge.
