Had a lot of fun doing this one! It's the first thing that came to my mind when I saw nightmare. I thought about a few other ideas but they would have been a little hard to set up given the time I had available.

So for this I filled a cardboard box with a layer of potting soil and cut holes to stick my head and hand through. I then set my camera on a tripod and 2 off camera hotshoe flashes, one 580EXII as the key light the other side of me to the camera creating a backlight on the hand, and one 430EX fired into a silver/white umbrella as a fill directly to the right of my head.

I then balanced them to get daylight exposure -1.5 stops and then manaul control on each flash until I was happy with the mix.

Then I got "in" the box and tried a few panic/fear faces whilst Rob (brother-in-law/assistent) fired off the shutter.

It's pretty much exactly what I was going for so i'm pleased with it. hoping for a 6+ due to the amount of effort but I'm hopeless at predicting the views of the masses.

Hope you like it anyway!

Thanks

This is scary! I find it scarier then any clown. I would've used gummy worms and crushed oreo cookies. Rotated 90-CCW looks good, too.

That IS a nightmare. There is something about the composition that feels a bit static and posed, but it's a great concept.

The rather odd angle and intent is something that all claustrophobic viewers will greatly appreciate - or not appreciate. The stuff nightmares are made of.
