I don't know why, but I got a really good chuckle from your title. I love these birds, they are so pretty! Great capture of the color.

More of a lighted shot than a creative use of lighting, this image falls short of meeting the challenge criteria in several ways. While a good image, the author might have chosen to use the available lighting to create an effect rather than just a image that is actually of snapshot quality. A little more thought would have helped as there are possibilities in this image such as a macro which would not only have met the criteria, but have placed high.
