 This morning's view of Long's Peak. We had a sliver of clear sky on the eastern horizon, but a large mountain wave cloud over the front range. Clear, blue sky to the west. At sunrise, the early rays of light graced the peaks and began to fill the valleys with morning light. This glory was shortlived. As the sun climbed above the horizon, the mountain wave cloud began to block the sunlight after about 10 minutes.

More of a lighted shot than a creative use of lighting, this image falls short of meeting the challenge criteria in several ways. While a good image, the author might have chosen to use the available lighting to create an effect rather than just a image that is actually of snapshot quality. A little more thought would have helped as there are possibilities in this image which would not only have met the criteria, but have placed high.
