With just 1 pencil focused, the DOF is too short for a cascading color effect IMO.
The table and some bright things in the background are distracting too.
I can't rate it very high, sorry. |

| not enough is in focus IMO...you focused in on the box and the first pencil...if you had moved just a tad to your right you would have had the first 2/3 pencils in focus then fading to the DOF... |

The closest pencil being the one in focus should have had a color that would allow details to pop out at the pointy end more. Right now it just looks like there's nothing there(total blackness and no definition). Otherwise technically it's ok.
The floor or table doesn't work for me in terms of the pattern. The DOF works though and lighting looks pretty close. |

| The image meets the subject matter dead on. A sound demonstration of the creative process in meeting the challenge in a very unusual way. A couple of minor detail problems as the image appears to be less than sharp. The DOF could have been used more effectively. A good solid entry into the challenge. |
