I'm not getting smooth but maybe that's just me. I think just Nature's endless Palette would have worked just as well. The oof pink flowers in the bg set off the green lichen very nicely.

i like what you were thinking to include scale of textures from smooth to rough, but the blur in the foreground is very distracting to me.

The sharp transition from soft focus to sharp focus is interesting in and of itself, but in this scene it doens't work quite as well as it would in other scenes. It would have been better to concentrate on the bark molds and flora rather than the foreground which in this case, distracts from the really interesting blend of textures in the background.

I think if the flowers would have been more in focus it would have made for a more interesting shot

I think I would have really liked this better without the pink flower...it distracts from a very textured picture...your focus on the lichen is really good
