Impressionist imagery is hard to develop a feel for both when composing and evaluating. In this instance, it's hard to determine exactly what the author was trying to convey and the technique isn't as obvious as it should be. Effective in several ways, it fails to have total impact because of it's very subtle nature - a little less subtlety would have improved it's impact. |
