 I had a few hours - not enough! - in Kamakura during the spring break.
The construction of the Great Buddha, or Daibutsu, of Kamakura was begun in 1252 and took about ten years. It used to be housed in a hall, or halled in a house, but typhoons happened to keep coming along and blowing over the building, or maybe it was just a tsunami - so the statue has been exposed to the elements since the fourteenth century.
It is 11.3 metres high and weights 121 tonnes. It is a hollow construction, and you can actually go inside through a small door at the side of the pedestal.
The circumference of the thumbs is 85cm. The eyes are one metre wide. The length of the face is 2.35m. (Of course, these last two aren't shown in this photograph.)

A slight bit more contrast might help this. Its a little muted imo. But still a nice shot.

Another example of how simple shapes and curves can evoke positive imagery. The subtle greens are well controlled which is difficult in any setting. Plenty of soft even lighting which only enhances the overall impact. There aren't any minor flaws. A ribbon contender for sure.
