Well, this went down like I expected. My son is sick - the snotty nose wasn't intended to be a feature or something nice to look at.

It;s a portrayal of being sick, and how he communicates that in his language. Had the nose not look like that, he couldve cried for any number of reasons.

I think those with kids can relate to the picture and perhaps understand what the intentions were.

rinac -- it seems NO ONE should make assumptions. Not just the photographer of this image.

Very emotive, but the ceiling fan growing out of the side of the child's head is distracting.

Sorry, this photo does not appeal to me. The lighting is harsh, the expression isn't appealing, and the running nose just doesn't work for me

I understand what you were going for in relation to the challenge, and that's fine, but I just can't do snot. I can, only just barely, handle specks of dirt or food on faces. But why on earth are you showing me this child's mucous? Were there no tissues handy? Would the boy have stopped crying if you wiped his nose? Sorry, I just don't know what else to say...

Post challenge edit: Because you shouldn't make assumptions... I was already a parent while you were still looking up girl's skirts in the school yard.

Meet my son Max, almost 10
and my daughter Ally, 18 yrs

What's the thing coming out of the left side of his head? The goobery nose doesn't appeal to me.
