What I liked about the original, that is the dense stormy sky, has gone in this, but I was playing around with it and didn't mind this effect. It may be getting a bit far from photography though.
Water Colour filter applied in pscs2. Various tweaking of brightness/contrast and a bit of sponging, border, resize, stw.

Good job brightening up the original. I think there's a setting to set brush size or something tht won't give the light "speckled" areas, unless that's what you were after.
It makes a nice abstract piece, but I had to look at the original to figure out what it really was. I've been acquiring more of an appreciation for abstract photography lately.
You've created a very rich and intersting abstract here! From the original, it looks like it was a very threatening storm - dark and foreboding in both the sky and the light you had.
