 Flock of Snow Geese which had been spooked by a Bald Eagle overfight. During the winter motnths the Snow Geese gather by the 10's of thousands in and around the farmlands of the Skagit Valley in Washington State. This group was located on Fir Island, formed by the north and south forks of the river as it runs into Skagit Bay.

JB, this is an amazing photo. The small DPC format really doesn't do it justice. I can only imagine it printed large.

This needs more than a two second view to be appreciated - that number of birds flocking together must be one heck of a sight in real life, and is petty impressive in a photo - but coupled with the backdrop, Wow!

This is a good black-and-white I would rather have seen it in color. It's still very good shot.

It's graphically very pleasing, this shot. All those lovely horizontal layers. So even if you view it from too far away to be sure what it is, it still looks interesting.
