Me and some friends were bored on a Friday night so we decided to set up this scene and submit a photo for the "Post its" challenge. The idea behind the photo is that even though there are post it notes and messages on the calender to remind the guy that it is Valentines day, he still forgets, and thus has an unhappy girlfriend.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Hi...

I'm glad I was assigned this image by the critique club. This is certainly a different take on the subject and it is good to see an injection of Humour.

I'm wondering if you thought that the image would do well in the challenge or not. 80th is a bit harsh IMO. There is definately a knack to entering 'winning' shots on DPC and as a contributor you need to decide whether to enter a challenge or not... Do you have a great idea and really strong image or do you just enter for the spirit of the challenge and hope for some contructive critique and useful comments even though you know the voters will probably low vote it.

If you look at my profile you will see that I have had mixed success.. mostly due to the fact that I can't decide whether to only submit when I am sure I have a great shot and therefore protect my average... or to just enter for the fun of it... and in some cases enter risky shots that might bomb or might do well...

Feedback:
Your image suffers a bit in technical execution. The on-camera (?) flash has caused harsh lighting on the foreground model and significant drop off to the back of the scene. (Which includes the challenge subject) - The idea is great and it looks like you had fun setting up and shooting, but unfortunately you will inevitably get lower marks because of the lighting. It would be very hard to properly light the scene without a studio lighting set.

I look forward to seeing more of your work...

Chris

This looked like a fun shot to do but I don't really seem to like the colors.

I like the expression on the face of the boy. Nice image. Post-it is given little less importance IMO.

The pattern on the rug is sketchy, but I like the photo.

Nice sense of repetition, with the Post-Its on the wall [and the 14 on the calaendar!] This girl needs to calm down though!

Very creative!! This photo definitely made me laugh. You have captured a very relatable part of life. The different color post-it notes give a special emphasis to the photo.

This is poorly lit which distracts from the story you're telling.

Good idea and well executed. But the direct flash is very distracting off the girls leg and the subsequent shadow it produces.

The technicals are severely lacking here, but the idea is funny and the pose/expression on the guy is really, really funny.
