This hawk had just captured and eaten a small snake, and was unable to fly for about an hour. I took lots of shots, but most were in the shadows and were too dark. I managed to save some detail using levels and shadow/highlights, but noise became an issue.

Nice interesting Hawk. It's different than any I have seen up north here. The eye really pops!

everything about this image is perfect
detail ashrpness and wonderful colors the eye really pops
btw is that a butterfly in the background?

You processed this one nicely. Even with noise reduction there is tons of detail and a definite "don't mess with me" expression (even if he was just digesting). Ferns point to him nicely, too.

You were very fortunate to find this one on the ground, and that it didn't fly before you got some photos. This one looks darker on top than most of the hawks that I am used to seeing.
Good shot. Composition and focus is just right. I like the ferns in the BG.

OMG the detail in here is so sharp. His brightly colour eye makes a great focal point.
