History: this is the second stone for Wyatt Earp. The first was stolen, recovered and is now preserved "under lock 'n key, - someplace."
This one is located in Hills of Eternity Cemetery in Colma CA. Scattered around it are coins, rocks containing ore, and, for some reason, bottle caps - nearly all left by pilgrims, as only the rocks are nailed down. Colma is home to many cemeteries and there are lots of famous names engraved on the stones. Since I am not a gravestone groupie, this is the one I happened to learn about and could photograph in time for this Challenge.
The shadows were a challenge in themselves, as the area is crowded with unwelcome shadows from other monuments thus making it difficult to get a clear image. |
