My original idea was to take some shots of attacking seagulls but I thought this would be safer. Besides I always admire the work of IreneM and this was a good opportunity to try some of those brilliant water shots, It's harder than it looks. A big thanks to my wife for helping out on this shot. I'll be happy if IreneM gives me a nice comment and/or I get above my average.

I didn't vote this challenge, but to answer your question: Image is seriously oversharpened (see the halo around the bulb?): it looks like this may have been the best of your many attempts but it wasn't as sharp as you'd have liked it, so you gave it a heavy dosing of USM.

Another thing would be backlash against liquid-drop shots, which I believe we're starting to see. To score really well, it seems to me, they need a sense of luminosity which this one, unfortunately, is lacking.

Finally, this may just be me, but the border here is doing you no favors at all, it's sort of clumsy/chunky. If the inline were only 1 pixel, that would help a lot.

Bear,

Thanks for the comments. I appreciate you taking the time. I know you didn't vote, but if you did and gave me a 1, 2, or 3 I could live with it based on your comments. Now back to the drawing board.

If anyone really cares I mixed gray acrylic paint in the water and dropped it into a shallow pan. I'm actually disappointed with the score. Oh well.

If you gave me a 3,2, or 1 I'd be very interested in knowing why and how I can improve in your eyes. Thanks

I find the bright edges on the droplet really distracting.

If this is not IreneM kitchen work, it's her style of drop shots.
Absolutely amazing... 10 for sure
