Presumably it had been wrapped to prevent the water inside from freezing, though somehow I don't think it was very effective at that time ... four years ago, almost.

Original

It's located somewhere in a back lane in the World Heritage site of the Toshogu Shrine. It was on a day when I went to see an ice hockey game.

Okay, so some of the snow is over-exposed, but what can you do? ;-Þ

Good crop to bring the viewer right into your subject. This takes on an almost human characteristic - it reminds me of somebody in a potato sack race.

Vertical crop suits this much better. The snow looks fine to me.

I didn't notice the overlit snow until you said something. The textures of the snow on the block wall were compelling enough, really.

I like your choice to convert from horizontal to vertical for this.

Good crop. If the snow is overexposed, add a monochrome channel mix adjustment layer in lightness mode. It may help the snow.

Crop works well, and coloring/tone is fine for me -- the extra-white snow is not a distraction from the subject.

It reminds me of a dog standing on his hind legs begging. Since he's wearing a very raggedy coat he must be homeless. I'd suggest letting him come home with you, giving him a meal and letting him warm up by the fire! LOL!
