 Lotta PP on this one. Crop, Convert from RAW (including strong boost to blacks/contrast), up contrast in lightness channel in Lab color (as well as slight adjustment to a/b channels 'till I liked it). Convert back to RGB. Airbrush with 30% opacity brush, burn hat shadow to more even black, sharpen with High Pass on Soft Light, extremely contrasty b/w layer set to multiply (20% opacity), d/b, darkening of lower part of image with curves masked with a gradient, and a couple of miscellaneous layers of vibrance and exposure I can't quite put my finger on at the moment.

Resize, sharpen, save.
