This shot was captured in the afternoon of the last day of my trip to Zion NP. Due to the brush in front of me and my available lens choice, I needed to frame this shot in this orientation, though I think it almost works even though its a landscape because of the shape of the main feature. At this size it is not too apparent, but it is actually a bit soft- which I am very disappointed at... I didn't have time to come back with my tripod, as we were on our way out of the park :(

Note that my camera's clock was off- the picture was captured yesterday (1/14)- I've corrected the clock now- I hope this doesn't DQ me!

Thanks for the comments- I think I've learned a lot from this first contest. I agree now that the border doesn't quite work, and I definitely agree that the bottom is too dark. I was so excited by how the mountain turned out that I didn't step back and look at the whole picture. Thanks!

Nice shot with good detail on the mountain. The lower half of shot is a little dull in comparison though, you could really have helped it out with some selective dodging and burning, especially of the river itself.

This is a great shot, but the border spoils it in my opinion. It's still in my top 10 but I think it'll just miss out on a ribbon. I think a solid border would have worked better.
