I can't say why it is one of my favorites- it just is. I like the guys and the old look I got with the processing.
Processed primarily in Nik Silver Efx Pro with a gausian blur added to the background. Cloned out part of a cactus leaf in lower right corner. Crop. Some levels and hue/ sat adjustments for fine tuning. Resize, smart sharpen.

In responce to some of the comments, it does look as though this might not be real. These are live warhogs (ugly beasties) and were shot at the San Diego Zoo with a point and shoot camera which was converted to shoot in infrared only. It was overcast so the shadows were very soft and this adds to the look of it being a set-up exhibit although it was not. Thank you for your votes and comments.

:O Feel like I've gone back in time....a long way. An image you can keep looking at - which is a good thing ;)

I love the texture in this photo. I have been working hard to shoot sharper photos. You have done a tremendous job here and I love the grayscale. 10.

great capture, a little flat though would have likes some more difference in the hogs versus the rocks and ground.

are these alive? this looks like a diorama. Which I guess could be either good or bad!

Ha! They are so cute! Excellent photo - that duotone makes them look primordial. I also like your DOF.
