Macro shot of a fork from side on. Lighting for this one was fairly simple, 2 SB-R200 speedlights mounted either side of a Macro ring.

Made a point of keeping this one to 1:1 Macro.

Camera was mounted on a tripod with macro adjustment plate, delayed shutter and pre-exposure mirror up.

Good abstract image...The lines really add depth to this image.

I like the shallow DOF and sharpness. I bet this would look great in B&W.

Nice abstract, didn't know what it is until read the description.

Interesting macro. Nice to see just one part in focus. Wished the light was a little more subtle.

Ooo, that is sharp on that one tine!

Proper challenge-the-perception sort of macro - I actually had the fork the other way up the first time I looked at the thumbnail...

Nah, disagree with nova- think if you take the shadows away you'll lose some of the integrity of the image, like it the way it is.

I think I might like this better if the background shadows were eliminated, especially on that last tine. Just an idea. That's an amazingly shallow dof for 7.1 but I've never tried to shoot true 1:1 macros so take my comment with a grain of salt :D

PAW - I like the very shallow DOF but still very detailed on the 2nd tine. A little blown out in the bottom parts of the tines but otherwise good lighting.

Interesting. From the thumbnail I could clearly see that this was a fork, but in the full version there is so more contrast, lighting and texture to take in, and it's harder to see the fork itself.

Good stuff. Interesting that the ends of the tines are round from this distance.

I'll keep my eye on your collection - I tried to shoot something like this too for a challenge and I think I'll learn how to do it right if I watch you.

Cool dof. I like the grain of the metal too.
