Great macro, the colors are really beautiful. It would also look good if the rest of the wings were in focus.

Good luck...

I don't know what you shoot normally, but maybe you should stick to macro shots ;-) wonderful.

Great macro! It's always hard to decide how to crop these. I have taken hundreds of butterfly shots. I always try different crops when I go with them too. I think for this one, I'd either cut out the antenna and part of the flower and top and about an inch of the left side. Or, I'd open up the crop on the left and top to include the entire wing. Nice color, a little bright, but nice :)

Wow, that's pretty close! Butterflies tend to fly off when I get too close so you did a great job getting in there. I like the composition too. The colors are great, and the body of the butterfly is very sharp. I'm a fan of shallow dof but I cant decide whether I like the majority of the wings being OOF or not. In some ways they make the body details stand more a lot, but on the other they lose the texture and detail of the wings. Even so, a very cool shot!

What a superb example of insect macro photography. The colors pop off my screen and your use of depth of field really draws the viewer's eye to the body of the bug. Nicely done.

I wish my camera could do these shot... your skill shows here with excellent lighting and dof (minor nit - the top of the antennae thing is a bit distracting as it points to a yellow spot -- both the tip and the yellow thing could have been cloned out with no loss on overall composition)

The body is sensational!!! Give it a 9, would have been a 10 if all of the wings were in shot. Sensational shot regardless.

It is a shame the DOF was not large enough to get the wings in focus, or at least in the frame.

Terrific photo. Is it really something you've never photographed before? If so it's all that more impressive.

Beautiful image! Wow look at the tiny little hairs on the butterfly's head! Very cool! Nice blurred background. I can almost feel the powdery wings. Easily an 8! But I'll be back after the looking at the rest of the challenge...
