Taken from the wharf, looking across to the old Navy Pier and Harbor Master's Office.

Jutilda is the one who can always tag a shot with appropriate lyrics. This time Joan Baez jumped out at me. Anyone remember:

The water is wide, I cannot get o'er.
Neither have I wings to fly.
Give me a boat that can carry two,
And both shall cross my true love
and I.

There are loads of waterfront shots with colourful reflections in the water here on dpc but (for me) this is the first with that (oh so) wonderful LB bokeh - this rocks for me Germaine, even more so with a little NI on the sky

No lyrics here either but I like the shot. I'm with ART, I feel like i'm on some dingy trolling as fast as I can from the Island.

Alas, my brain is in shut-down mode. I'm afraid that I have no lyric to contribute. I'll give you a "fabulous blue", though.

Oh hell. the only lyrics I can remember are:

It's up to you not to heed the call-up
You must not act the way you were brought up
Who knows the reasons why you have grown up?
Who knows the plans or why they were drawn up?

Great shot, and I was waiting for you to bring us back out over the water.

For me it was:

The boy stood on the burning deck,
his feet were covered in blisters.
He thought his knickers were too hot,
so he borrowed a pair of his sisters.

I guess I'm a little more sensitive than Art & Judy.

That song must be before my time, but it reminded me of "Free Ride" by the Edgar Winter Group:

The mountain is high
The valley is low
And you're confused on which way to go
So I've come here to give you a hand
And lead you into the promised land
So...
Come on and take a free ride

Yeah, nothing to do with water. I thought there was a verse about a river in it, but maybe not.

Oh- anyway - the photo - Lovely! The lights, the water, a good chilly night feel to it. Like I'm on a makeshift raft escaping from an island prison. Hmmm, that seems to be a recurring theme in my impressions of some images in this side challenge. :(

Well done!

Oh goodness - you have no idea how much I adore that song. I remember it on an ancient live Peter Paul and Mary album I listened to over and over in the 70's. Thanks for bringing that memory back.

The lyrics I remember were slightly different

The water is wide
I cannot get o'er
Neither have I the wings to fly
Give me a boat that can carry two
and both shall roam
My love and I
