Ha! It's bubble wrap!

POST: Thanks for the comments. This was a candid shot of my son and the bubble wrap was completely experimental, so I wasn't expecting much. I did think it produced an interesting softness, less subtle in the outtake:

Dreamy distortion.

Bubble wrap! Wonderful. Very appropriate for the theme of your title, and a lovely portrait as well. I also like your outtake.

Wow - I gave this one my highest vote for the challenge. Rather disappointing to see it end so low!
I really liked the symbolism of the blurry distorted shot to highlight the dream like state a good book can take us too. Well done, and thanks for sharing. Far more interesting shot than another sharply focused picture of water....

On the negative side, a little more thought to the models pose, and perhaps the half picture sticking out of his head is a little distracting.

Lots of potential, I felt that the subject was just a bit too distorted. I can enjoy the picture, but wouldn't want to hang it on my wall

taken out of context, it just looks like a blurry photo...

This really conveys how I feel when I read a book - the world becomes a whole lot less real. My only nit would be it's hard to tell he's reading a book without the title, but this is still one of my favorites in the challenge.
