This graveyard dates to the 1850s goldrush in Ballarat. It's in one corner of the present Ballarat Cemetary, though the general cemetary from that time is in a different location. Unfortunately from the front of the shrine, which is more modern and flanked by Chinese lion sculptures, the graves are not visible, so I have taken the shot from the back. The overwhelming majority of surviving Chinese goldseekers went back home after the rush, so this is a poignant reminder of those who never made it home.
I have posterized this to bring up the Chinese inscriptions, and then used the history brush to restore most of the picture. Then I have used brightness/contrast, crop, added a border, resized, saved to web.

The centered composition adds to the oriental look of this shot. I like your processing to bring out the lettering on the stones.

I really like this, Marion. I have always loved cemetery shots for some reason, and I think you did a great job. Perfect for this challenge.

Great subject with a lot of potential, but there's too much going on in the picture in my opinion. The gate at the back draws the attention away from the graves. Maybe taken from a lower angle and less graves in the picture? Good luck in the challenge.

I love the solid, weighted feel imparted by the gate and the stones.
