This is my first member challenge entry. After spending
some 2 and 1/2 months at DPC, I have liked this site and
the challenge that it provides. So, this Christmas, I decided to upgrade to 'Memeber'. :-).

The picture was taken during early morning walk after I stayed over-night at my friend's place for Chritmas celebration. There were a group of construction workers, and my movement through them, caused a slight commotion. It was during this period that I clicked this picture. It was tough post-processing this picture, as the contrasts were extreme and low, and I am not sure if I quite took the picture sharp. But, I liked the elements in this picture, and hence, decided to share this one.

Let us see, how this picture is received. :-).

Merry Christmas!

Love, :-),
Vikram

This is Kari Ann, greetings from the Critique Club:

composition: The framing of the little boy by the two people on either side create a nice border around him. The straight gaze he's giving also helps with the center composition.

color: i like the over saturated colors, but for some it may be too much. The little splashes of different colors throughout the frame really help lead the eye around to view everything captured.

contrast: contrast is nice, and just enough to set the boy out from the crowd.

focus: i can clearly tell the focus was on the boy, but on his back side, there is some strange movement going on.

depth of field: very nice, enough to dissect the boy from the surroundings, but just enough to make it out and adds to the overall image.

lighting: the harsh lighting for me adds emphasis and the more feeling to the image.

other:overall, i feel this image was a great addition to the challenge. But when most think of Asia, they think of the "oriental-prototype", but you scored very well. I hope to see more of your work in future challenges, keep up the hard work!

I like the overall composition, but the yellow cast is too strong for my taste.

This is wicked hard on the eyes. It works better on Symbiosis where there's less light. Good Luck.

this is interesting...at first I see to much yellow...think it might look better in B&W then I look at the colors and it draws me in...nice shot

There is some odd haloing around some parts of the image, (the mans arm in the background, and the top of the boys head) and the saturation is WAYY strong but I find it to be interesting street photography in spite of those things.

Good shot. But I feel the yellowish tinge in the photo is a bit too much especially on the gunny sacks

Nice capture. Like the isolation of the subject.

Hm, looks like a photojournalist piece. Good work, though the grain is really odd--some areas look almost double-exposed, especially on the boy's pants/left arm.

I find the boldness of the color so enjoyable, among many other things like the confrontation between the young subject, and we, the viewer...very nice.

I don't know if the colours works here. perhaps there is too much yellow but I am sure that is your choice. the image is strong, and probably with other choice of palette could be better.... but I like this image.7

This could have been a great entry for me, but I dont like the processing or the side borders.

The picture feels a little over processed. Wonderful capture of an Asian scene. Wonder what it would have looked like in B&W. 7

Nice. Any good cook will recognize the presence of these spices; sarson and zaafraan and lal mirchi.
