Another month of last minute shooting to get something into the FSM!

This was shot at the local nature park. This little guy is about 15 cm nose to tail. He was actually climbing a vertical branch, but I rotated the shot because it looked better. There's some nice colours here with the ambient tungsten light on the background, and my flash lighting up the lizard.

Just after I shot this, the keepers came in and fed the lizards with live insects, which was pretty cool to watch.

I was conscious of not going too far with the editing, because I still wanted it to look quite natural. Some dodging/burn/multiply, some colour balance adjustments to areas, crop, sharpen. Also some noise reduction, because it was shot at ISO 1600 to capture the natural light on the background and still keep the shutter speed up.

Apologies for the huge border. It's a pity it makes the photo smaller, but I just felt the shot needed it. It just didn't work against the grey background. This guy would look cute on a postcard. :)

Nice color and composition. He looks like he's thinking.. "Let's see.. 9 am eat flies, 9:15 - scare the neighbor, 10 am - eat more flies..."

Great detail in the lizard, great color, too. Border's a bit overbearing.

Great focus and DOF. A tad busy but I like it. (not crazy about the white inner frame)
