Poor  Art Roflmao, he got too close to one of his favorite subjects and suffered a similar fate to the Crocodile Hunter.
I had this idea for the Where In The World Is Art Roflmao? challenge, but I was not able to obtain the needed props in time. I was a bit disappointed that the challenge did not include a lot of Godzilla references, so I still wanted to do this, and thought the concept would be effective as a shadow.
The Godzilla is from Toys R Us, and the little camera hanging from his jaws is from the Paparazzi play set
Here's my setup, just in case anyone thinks this was a silhouette and not a shadow:
This was an interesting exercise. Manipulating the light and the subject to give me a reasonably crisp shadow was not as easy as I first thought it would be. I tried it with a homemade snoot on my flash, bounced off a white board. That didn't work at all. The light was way too diffuse. The sharpest shadow was when using the light coming out from the sides vents of my halogen lamp, not from the front. That worked well, as it also gave me an interesting background pattern, almost like a city is on fire behind him.
Pre-challenge notes:
No telling with this one. It's fairly soft and that could hurt it, but it should be obvious to all what it is a shadow of. It could bomb or do well, but I like it. I'm going to guess that I'll come in with a low 5.
Post-challenge notes:
At least I missed the brown by a large margin. I was more disappointed in the lack of comments than the score. Oh, well. |

| I think this would hav edone very well in the ART challenge, but i think voters were a little mean becuase its a different challenge. But oh well, i really like it. |
