In order to avoid expert editing. I used a 30-second exposure. The room was completely dark. I flipped the light on and off to take a picture of a sketch I drew of myself. Then I took the sketch away to reveal a mirror behind it. I turned the light on and off again to reveal my face in the mirror. Voila! The dirty mirror acts like an overlay. I took several shots so it could line up differently. In this case, the drawn eyes are on my forehead. I kinda dig that because it suggests a mental vision, if you catch my drift. Now why can't we just have EE so I don't have to hog the bathroom for an hour?

PP steps: duplicate layer and apply the bas-relief filter. Blend this filter in difference mode. Apply curves to up the contrast. Go to Black and White with Infrared pre-set. Do another curves only for the sketch lines, to make them darker (using layer mask). Use hue/sat colorize to give it a reddish sepia hue.

So, I guess if I don't get a request for validation, I've failed...

Hey there from the Critique Club

Very interesting image, though I disagree completely with the expert editing category. I find this type of work and creativity much more interesting and appealing than anything anyone could do with digital art. This is photography and using the tools of photography. I like the detail you caught here, and I like the drabness and moodiness that you created with the capture. Nicely creative, but I'd expect nothing less from your work. This one I like.

Thank you for the opportunity to provide a critique on your entry,
Eric

Marvelously inventive. And I concur with your sentiments, even though I hardly have expert editing skills, I'd like to see more of it.

This one gave me a good chuckle. The title of the shot is marvelous.
Beyond that the work is tremendous. Very original, very cool.

Technique reminds me of Albert Watson's shots of Mick Jagger. Different style, but kind of the same tone.

Cool.

Your real face and your sketched face have decidedly different dimensions. I take this to mean you see yourself larger than you really are? :-) I can request a post-challenge validation... Not sure I'm with you on the expert editing, at least not all the time, but that may well be because I'm not an expert editor.

That's just my "looking in the mirror" face. The beard is the real deal, though.

I think you are going to give Cutout a run for his money :) I like it. Very creative. It's like what an old world master artist would produce if he had a camera.

I'm not sure how this fits the challenge. Are you wanting a drawing, the person behind the drawing? Interesting image, but does not seem to fit the challenge.
