Day 17 of Whatevers

This is our neighborhood Redtailed Hawk, which is looking pretty darned fat these days! And I still have tons of squirrels raiding my birdfeeders every day, so he's not likely to starve.

I was on my way to run some errands but when I walked out the door he was calling rather loudly, so of course I ran back in to get the camera and long zoom. He was w-a-y up in a neighbor's tree so it was tough to get a clear shot at him. I swear he taunts me by only appearing within decent photographic range when the camera is nowhere nearby ;-)

Played with the Posterize effect, because this is a very boring shot and I might as well play! It emphasizes his very hawkish expression.

We need one of these in our neighborhood. Squuirrels are invading our bid feeder as well. Nice job capturing this Hawk.

Just don't let him eat the fat squirrel in your other shot - he's too cute! He's a good looking bird - and I do like the processing to bring him out, especially his eye.

Your processing adds to this shot, which is a goodie anyway. I love the golden look of the hawk.

What a tough lighting situation to get exposure in. You did very good. Hawks are very skittish so to get close enough to get a nice shot like this is amazing.
