I was walking home and cut over a rooftop on my campus. It was freezing, and I felt myself drawn towards the last bit of warmth the sun had to offer. I wanted to capture that mood. I ended up staying till the sun dipped behind the high rise homes and froze my butt off. Taking the photos was worth it though.

Greetings from the Critique Club...

I was not able to vote on this challenge, but if I had, I probably would have given you a 6.

My first thought is that the lighting is beautiful. The backlighting creates a very nice silhouette with lots of information. The exposure is very good as the highlights are not blow out, and you can clearly see the rim lighting. The out of focus background really separates the plant from the rest of the photograph. This really makes the viewer stay focused on the plant, and in that respect, the bokeh is actually functional. The background reminds me of a "Group of 7" painting. The photo is very good overall, and I don't have anything to add that might improve this photograph. Great shot.

If you need any clarification on any of my comments, please feel free to pm me. It might take some time for me to get back to you.

This is great and beautiful! You did great with this light and the bokeh! I love this shot! There is just a small area at the bottom which is OOF, but this doesn't make your photo look worse at all.

gorgeous light - the sweep of the grasses, the sky and clouds behind - it works perfectly together

If it were me, I think I would have trimmed a little off the top, to right above where the blue meets the pink area at left of the image. The backlight brings out the beauty of the frozen branch very well, although maybe just a little hot in the middle. ~6
